Day 5 – Arkansas

Coldest morning yet I think we saw like 20 degree’s this morning. Starting to question the fact we didn’t pack the insulation for the tent. Everything was frozen this morning except us and the dogs we stayed warm in our sleeping bags and the dogs under their blankets.

We saw the sun and packed up camp with just coffee and tea. We headed out for hopefully warmer weather further south. I think this is going to be a theme for the trip, cold.

Today we are moving about 5 hours south, we actually aren’t going very far about 280 mile. It looks like our route is mainly 55 mph roads. It kind of seems like Arkansas is lacking in freeways.

The ride down to Merfreesboro was beautiful we passed through small and medium sized towns. The roads where slow and winding through the valleys and farm fields. Lots of cows and open land around Arkansas. We got to see the side of the state you don’t see flying across it on a freeway. It was amazing to see this other side of these states that I have only personally flown through on the freeway way as a kid. It is nice to take it slow our longest day so far was our first one. and I think that is not going to change on this trip. We are taking it slow and seeing the sights that make our United States as beautiful as they are. Our destination for the day is Murfreesboro RV Park, in Murfreesboro, AR.

We are on the hunt for a new propane tank since our is just giving us trouble this trip. Also, we need to find a store to get groceries. There are not a lot of options around were we are headed so it will be interesting.

The goal for the day are showers and laundry since we are at day 5 and that is what we have limited our selves to for space purposes.

Dinner for tomorrow is bbq pulled pork I am cooking it in the crock pot tonight for tomorrow. And we are having venison taco’s for dinner. Otherwise a pretty uneventful day.

We are thinking after we leave here we are going to head to Mississippi and do the Natchez Trace Parkway. Which starts in Mississippi, goes through a corner of Alabama, and into Tennessee. It ends just south of Nashville, Tennessee. After that we are planning a couple of days up in Smoky Mountain National Park.

Tomorrow we are going to check out Crater of Diamonds State Park, it should be fun.

Stop Back Soon to see what happens.
