Today is an adventure day. We are heading to Crater of Diamonds State Park. Yes, it is a real place. Apparently this is the 8th largest diamond Reserve in the world. The crazy part of it all it really isn’t a mine it is just a big cleared field that you can dig in the dirt and look for diamonds. We got there around 10 am and there was a line. It is $13.00 a person to get in to the mine. You can bring your own bucket and shovel or you can rent them or buy them but it is not cheap, so totally bring your own.
I guess about 1 or 2 diamonds are found each day on average but the parking lot was almost full when we got there. We paid to get in and walked around. I picked up a few rocks but we decided with the dogs that actually getting dirty didn’t really sound like fun. There were so many people looking for diamonds, trying their hand at finding one. It seems a lot like gold panning minus the river part.
After walking the dogs around the big field and checking things out we decided to have a chill day at camp. It is finally warm were we are and we decided to just hang out and enjoy it.
Last night I started pulled pork in the crock pot which was done in the morning. I split it up in quart size bags so it could be a couple of meals. Dinner tonight is bbq pulled pork sandwiches.
I am totally loving my kitchen set up. That will be another post for another day. We are having a blast on vacation, the roof top tent is working out great. The only thing we have had trouble with is the weather and finding warmer places to be.
There will be another post tomorrow so check back and find out where we head next.
