Today we packed up camp with a destination in mind. Our ramblings south have not been for not. We finally have a game plan in place for the rest of our vacation. With a little help from my mom and a good look at a map a plan has formed as to what we are going to do for our second week of our trip. But first we have some more cold weather to ride out. So, we are on our way further south to get out of the path of a massive storm system crossing the country.
Today’s Destination is Vicksburg, Mississippi back on the east side of the Mississippi River. Our travels today will mainly be slow going as I said no freeways in Arkansas or so it seems. It is gorgeous country though beautiful rolling hills. Until we finally made it into the low lands of Louisiana. We are only do a corner but it counts. This is where we will meet I-40 and cross back across the Mississippi into Mississippi.
It is finally warm down where we are and sunny. I made our reservations for our future destinations on the road this morning and finally feeling like we have a purpose again, feels good. Though, I am a little nervous about what is headed our way tonight. Our tent has not been tested and I feel like tonight will be the real test if we made the right choice in picking and IKamper roof top tent.
After about 6 hours on the road we made it to our destination a campground in Vicksburg, MS. Where we settled in to just hang out in the sun for the after noon and enjoy the warmth, we saw 80 degrees today it is amazing. Dinner tonight is super easy I am reheating bbq pulled pork and making pulled pork nachos. After dinner was cleaned up we packed up everything so we didn’t have to worry about anything getting wet and then we wandered the campground.

Pulled Pork Nachos
Leftover BBQ pulled pork heated on the griddle with some shredded cheese until melted. Once hot add to a bed of chips and add your lettuce, tomato, etc. on top.
Super easy camp dinner and extremely tasty.
The Rain started to move in around 9 or 10 pm. The wind started to pick up so we dropped the windows even though it was crazy hot in the tent. I was worried about our big dog Chewy he is not a fan of thunderstorms, but he did fine. The wall of wind hit at like 2 am, the tent did just fine. The thunder and lightning were crazy. I have never heard thunder roll like that anywhere I have ever traveled it was beautiful to hear.
Then it let loose, It poured like it I don’t know if I have ever heard it pour before. At one point I actually prayed for the tent to hold it was coming down so hard and so fast. Definitely glad we were not on the ground. The tent held, we didn’t even get wet. I love our tent, it has survived at least 40 mph gusts and a massive down pour. We made the right choice.
