Mt. Mc Sauba and Mushroom Houses

An Adventure in Charlevoix.

Hello, my readers I have found something in Northern Michigan that I did not know was there. I found a ski hill in Charlevoix. Yep, a ski hill, I know you are going to tell me I am a crazy person but it exists. It is a cute little 3 rope tow ski hill, right outside of downtown Charlevoix.

This is pretty funny, to be honest. I have driven through Charlevoix so many times that I should know this place exists. But it is just enough off the beaten path that even my husband, who has lived in this area his whole life, didn’t know it existed. I had to look it up on a map to even believe it was real. I mean, why stop here when you can keep going and get to Boyne Highlands or Nubs Nob.

But not only is this place a ski hill and cross-country ski trail in the winter, and the cross-country trail I believe is lit for night cross-country with all the lights out in the woods. They have a whole host of summer activities as well; they have a big day camp for kids, plus a disc golf course, a mountain biking trail, hiking trails, and you can totally just go to the beach here as well. It is a short sandy walk out to Lake Michigan.

This place is awesome. We walked the beach and then found a hiking trail. The boys mentioned coming back. Bryce wants to mountain bike the trails, and Bill was down for a round of disc golf.

The Beach is a gorgeous sand dune with sand all the way to the water. The hiking trails are not very well marked, so you never really know if you are in the disc golf course, mountain biking trail, or cross-country trail. But we figured out a nice loop and made it back to the truck.

After our adventure into places unknown, we stopped down just past the house with the dragon on the roof and there is a triangle-shaped block with these super cool, mushroom houses.

They look a lot like hobbit houses and are super cute. You can pay and take the tour, but we just walked around the block (triangle) and checked them out. There are two more further down the street. From here I will let the photo’s speak for themselves. The house are very fun and different.

Thank you for checking out my blog this week. I know if you read my post last week, I promised you a recipe and a video. But this week has been hectic, and I am just happy I had time to write this post and get it out to my readers.

Next week, it will be our adventure at Arcadia Dunes, and hopefully, the week after that will be my first recipe video. I am getting there, really I am.

Have a great week and see you again next Friday.
