Today was our first real adventure day since we got down here to Georgia. We have been busy camp/yurt hosting since we got down here, plus it has been cold.

We have finally gotten free of the cold weather and are enjoying the warm Georgia weather. We have made a game plan of what we want to do while we are down here. This is the first of many more adventures to come.

We decided to get out the National Parks book and see what was close. We found Russell Cave National Monument, it is a small park with only a couple of walking trails. But it is full of history.

Russell Cave National Monument is at:
3729 County Rd. 98, Bridgeport, AL. 35740
Phone #: 256-496-2672 www.nps.gov/ruca

The Layers in the cave go back from 16,500 – 30,000 Years Ago. They have found lots of artifacts in the area that the people that lived in this area used this cave as shelter and home.
We couldn’t get into the cave the pathway was closed due to need for repair but it was a nice short hike and a wood pathway. There is also a 1.2 mile nature hike up the mountain. I got my stamp and we checked it out.

After our Russell Cave NM stop we headed toward South Pittsburgh where we found the Lodge Cast Iron Museum and Outlet Store. It was a fun stop on our way back to Georgia. We found some cool finds. Including the cool cast iron artwork outside the store.

All in all we had a fun day, out and about. In the Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee area. We like it here, we actually decided we are going to be coming back next winter.

Check Back Next Week, We are back in Cloudland Canyon State Park on our adventure.
