US Space and Rocket Center

US Space and Rocket Center

Huntsville, Al

This Weeks Adventure took me a little longer then normal to write. We have been busier then usual with yurt hosting duties. Things are starting to pick up down here at Cloudland Canyon State Park, for Spring Break I believe. But I have finally found some time to sit down and write this post.

There are a ton of photo’s for this adventure, We had a blast checking this place out. It is part of NASA and it is affiliated with the Smithsonian. There was a ton to see, I love history especially space history so this place is really cool.

It is $30 per adult to get in, these are the times when I wish Bryce was little again. But, it is worth it. It took us about 3 to 4 Hours to walk through the whole place. The first section of the museum is about space memorabilia.

Then we found these cool space suits.

Next we found Satellites and other things that are going to space or have been in space.

After the first building we wandered through the rocket garden. Where they have a ton of cool rockets to look at.

Then we found the second building. This building has a full sized rocket laying on its side hanging from the ceiling. It is massive and very cool to see. These photo’s are of the entry way of the second building.

We actually go a tour though the building it took about an hour. It was included in our admission. It was very interesting to hear about the history of the space program and not just read the signs on the walls. Bryce Liked this part, Especially since there were retired NASA scientists walking around answering questions about the programs and inventions to make it so man could go to space and land on the moon.

This was a very cool place to check out. Second only to going to Cape Canaveral. They are still part of NASA and there is a military base near by where they are working on going back to the moon. Then last but not least, the space shuttle and the Black Bird.

The Photo at the bottom is where they have space camp.

Then on the way home we crossed the Tennessee river and there was this cool bridge. Also, Bryce hasn’t been able to fly his drone all winter since it isn’t allowed in the park and it is windy here a lot. So, we stopped and checked it out.

All in all we had a fun day in Huntsville AL. it is about an Hour and a half from the park.

I hope enjoyed this post. Sorry so many photo’s but it is a photo taking kind of place. Next week is James H. Floyd State Park. Or Crazy Tornado / Storm Photo’s we shall see how the week plays out.
